Solar Energy Feed-in tariffs are quite simply a payment which is made to home owners and businesses for the renewable energy they generate.

Under this scheme these payments are guaranteed for 25 years and will be paid at a rate indicated in the table below.  These tariffs will be inflated annually and for domestic properties are non-taxable.

Claiming the tariffs is easy, all you need to do is sign a "home generation" contract with an energy supplier, just ask them for a "home generation" sign up form.  Ring them as soon as you have an installation date.  You will be paid directly by your energy supplier and will enjoy the benefit of paybacks for solar energy.

In order for your solar panel system to qualify for the Feed in Tariffs it must be installed by an MCS accredited installer and the equipment installed must also be MCS accredited.

Solar Feed In Tariffs (FITs) Tables

Below are tables showing Feed in Tariffs that came into force in April 2010 and the proposed rate changes announced by the Government on 31 October 2011.

   What are Feed-In Tariffs?

Under the proposals, the new tariffs would apply to all new solar PV installations with an eligibility date on or after 12 December 2011. Such installations would receive the current tariff before moving to the lower tariffs on 1 April 2012. Consumers who already receive a FIT will see their existing payments unchanged, and those with an eligibility date on or before 11 December 2011 will receive the current rate.
